I don't think I need to translate the subject line.

The darling [livejournal.com profile] sneezer222 got the German dvd to me yesterday.

Some disappointments:
Whatever "Goofs" means in German, it's not what I thought. The five clips in this section are simply from the movie. My best guess is that any goofiness was in the German dubbing, but it's not really apparent, and there are some clips where hardly anything is said. I'm wondering if this is just a section to show some humorous moments. There's text running around in the menu, so I'm thinking that may be the key to figuring this out.

Interviews! And yet, these last long enough for everyone to make a brief point or answer a question (not played), so about 10-30 seconds. And they're obviously cut from longer conversations, so I could throttle the Germans for not putting any more in.

Some treats:
The thing that made me CRY WITH JOY: not only pretty production stills, but an animation of the Northmen's paths across Europe. I believe whoever created this did so integrating history and the film, because the paths are very specific. It goes from Norway to Ireland, another from Norway to the north coast of France and around to Rome, then from Rome to Constantinople, and then a third from Norway to Riga and via river to Kiev and the Black Sea, and then the lines from Constantinople and the Black Sea come together and head off to Arabia. There was a lot of flailing at this point. Yes, [livejournal.com profile] ixchel55 guided my writing to be historically accurate, but to see my fanon reflected in movie material is a huge thrill.

The other treat is the interviews. Antonio is the most adorable earnest fanboy ever, such a dramatic Spaniard who feels everything veeery deeeeeply. Dennis is quite cute, and I love the fact that his mic is so low on his chest it looks like he's got something in his cleavage, and he also has a huge welt on his forehead. The last cracks me up: wtf was going on on-set that day? And MY GOD, VLADIMIR: unh. Just...excuse me while I groan and clutch my chest.

I have the 17 interview files ripped to .avi, and the German trailer. I'll try to figure out how to present the other stuff that I couldn't get on .avi, like all the textual menu stuff (lots of German information) and the map and the production stills.

Sneezer? I am so going to earn this. *hugs*
